Happy 4th of July! Summer is really such an enjoyable time of year, yet even while there are so many fun things to do, you still know that you can't let your business suffer while all of this is happening. So, today, is going to be a really fun episode where, after the holiday weekend, we're going to be talking about “How do I get back into that work mode?”

**Cue, the school bells**

Moms…. You know that sound, and that sound means school is out, and it’s officially summer!

Now, I know by now we are a few weeks into summer and you may be feeling the pressure. “After a full day at the pool, you come home with hungry kids, dishes or laundry that needs to be done and a house that needs tending to…. So, I can assume when you hear the word work you cringe. How on earth are you supposed to even think of working when your demands during summer are so much? Well, I am here to tell you, I get it! Trust me, I do. As a mom of two girls, who, might I say, could live in the pool, I am on the same page and have a day that looks just like yours, but I have a secret!

I still get work done. In fact, I have condensed 5 full work days into just 3 days and one hour each morning. [And yes, I am still able to be just as productive.]

How may you ask? My morning routine and doing less busy work.

I have to say, my morning routine may be the most impactful activity I do all day, and you could even say it’s where the magic happens. I feel the most creative when I start my morning off the right way, and when I prioritize waking up before the kids. Even if you could just have one hour before anyone else wakes up, you could get so much done!

Next, I have made a major adjustment this summer about where I am focusing my time. I am now spending more time brainstorming, thinking, and planning ahead instead of doing. I know, sounds absolutely ridiculous right? Well, let me explain by sharing something I just heard from Greg Hickman, ”A real CEO spends 75% of his time thinking rather than doing.” See?! I’m not the only one with this epiphany! We do not have enough time to be busy. Instead, we need to be more strategic and instead create bigger action items that actually move you forward in your business. Once you have a team this will become a lot easier. You can do the majority of the thinking, they can begin to do the work! Stick to doing what only you can do, and delegate the rest!

Tune in next week to learn more about delegation, growing your team and building leaders within! (But for now, make sure to check out podcast episode #176 with Bob Burg where we discuss knowing your value! I want you to know your value and think of that when you are assessing which activities to delegate. More on that next week!)
